  1. International Air Transport Association (IATA) has defined “passengers with reduced mobility” as “a person whose mobility is reduced due to physical or intellectual deficiency and who needs some degree of individual caring or assistance from the airline company during processes of boarding, taking off the airplane, flying or ground operations.

It includes passenger with one leg or two legs in cast (LEGL, LEGR, LEGB), passenger who requires special medical service and quarantine (MEDA), passenger who requires stretcher (STCR), passenger who requires wheelchair (WCHR, WCHS, WCHC), passenger who is visually impaired (BLND) and passenger who is hearing-impaired (DEAF)

  2. In practice, most of the passengers with reduced mobility belongs to the category of WCHC (Wheel Chair for Cabin Seat; passengers who are unable to move at all. They need the assistance of wheelchair to reach the airplane and other people’s support to go up / down the stairs and to reach the seat). Therefore, this table is designed for WCHC passengers

  3. As the flight type and the number of seat, flight attendant and escape door vary according to the actual situation, airlines may have different limits on the number of people and handling methods.
